6th Grade MinecraftEdu - Early Humans Day 3

Please answer the following in one comment below:

1.  How did adding night/enemies affect your ability to survive?
2.  What did you use for shelter and how did it work?
3.  If we were to proceed into civilizations, how can we use Minecraft to simulate the other needs of a community?

Me and jamir and sean were all teaming up to live sean wentto get food me jamir went to build the house then sean got lost and died because he fell in fire. whenme and jamir knew we were scared because he had all the food. jamir had 1 food bar so i went and we got 1 sheep 1 cow 3 pigs and 1 rabbit i went back and we were all set. it was night and we wanted to explore. Then he died by enderman so i went to an garret jay and chris and settled there i was poisined so i risked my lifeto kill a creeper then died

  2. Remember this entry was to equate your MC experience to what early mans struggle for survival must have been like. Please stay focused on the questions required.

  3. When I was playing mine craft I found a new area to explore while it was day time before night and I dug a hole in the ground to survive and covered it , and I used torches to see in it because I blocked the hole off and made a underground base no wood , I even made a small wood farm in it but a little while later my hunger was sped up by Mr. Dunn and I dug out of the hole to get more food and It was night time I realized and was attacked by zombies/skeleton etc.
And I lived in the whole and it also worked for me because it was a simple and easy to , and I could make a new one whenever I wanted to so I guess that worked out to for protection and wood of course.
And if we ever were pushed to create a community or civilization I would simulate all of it by building houses and working together to survive and making a good trade system and maybe have some laws to enforce some rules and not have killers everywhere of course because that would be horrible and we could also sim it by defending our civilization with walls or guards to survive to.

  4. It made it harder because you had to make a house to stay safe with the monsters coming in the night. I used a cave I found a cave then I built walls at the entrance but then when I went to look for food a group of zombies can and killed me. We can simulate by building more houses and stores also by making water sources.

  5. I had teamed up with Emily (Elder), Grace and Liz. We did not to seem to have much of a promblem with haveing night or enimes, even though none of us made it to the next day. We all died beacause of hunger, not because we didnt have food but because we have food poising. Grace and I had created the shelter. I had the idea to make are shelter on the inside of the mountain/hill. We had doug into the wall and made an opening for a "door", while Liz and Emily hunted for food. Just like the Early humans, tthey probaly split up to do different tasks, like hunting or creating a shelter. Also we could have civilizations, and for that evry one would have jobs or tasks to complete. For example (if we didnt starve to death by Mr.Dunn putting food poising on us) if my "team" had survved one more day, someone would find an area for gardening, another for seeds, another for supplies, and possibly hunting as much as we could. As Early humans evoled over thousands and millions of years, they had civilizations and they had jobs and trade witch Minecrfat could esily simmulate.

  6. Day 3 we got to pick teams so I was sitting next to sage, Liz, and Emily.E so we worked together. Me and Sage where building the shelter and Emily and Liz were going to hunt. While me and Sage were building the shelter out of dirt and wood in the tiny and crowed cave. We were starving so we said to Liz and Emily "where are you guys with are food"? Finally Emily brings back two raw pieces of meat for me and Sage because my food bar was down to two and, Sage was down to one. Sage cooked the meat then she was about to give it to me and, Liz comes in and steals it from Sage. "Traitor" I screamed! I escaped to get some food but zombies, spiders, and creepers were all attacking me. I should have known to be more conches because I knew they come out at night, so I died. I wished if the whole class helped each other if they were starving or dying but, sadly it wasn't like that back in that time so a lot of people died like Minecraft simulated. That's when we went to Minecraft heaven throwing snowballs!

  7. When we played MineCraft to simulate the struggles of early humans when trying to survive, this time around we had to fight off the night enemies to simulate how early humans had to fight off predators. These enemies were to come out at night time, and they definitely made it harder to survive. As soon as the sun set, I was attacked by a spider. I was the first to die... But in "MineCraft Heaven," I saw in the notifications at the bottom of the screen that a lot of other people were being killed by the mobs as well. As for shelter, I seemed to be starving fast and I was too focused on finding food to build a shelter, which resulted in death... If we were to proceed into civilizations, we could use MineCraft to simulate how they were able to prevent floods (although there are no floods in MineCraft) by digging the canals, and how they were able to make holes in the canals for the water to travel to their crops. We could simulate how they farmed within their communities, and we could also build those communities.

  8. Day 3 of our minecraft simulation and now we have to survive night with the strange creatures lurking around. In the first 30 seconds Aubrey ,Emma ,and I,departed we could not find each other ,and it was turning dark.I was near Shaun.M,Jose,Amirah, and Raddiyah's shelter. At first I barged in then they kicked me out.I exited the house and started digging into the ground right outside the door .Jose exited the house and looked at me puzzled he asked what I was doing and I begged him to let me in. I was relieved when he said he would help me.Yet again I entered the house, the rest of the group was puzzled that I was allowed to enter. But half the roof was missing, and I guess nobody had any more wood so they were yelling from across the room for me to fill in the rest of the ceiling.I did and then everything went down hill.every body exited the house than Jose told me to stay in the house.I was tempted to go out side but I stayed in and watch eerily waiting for them to return I saw Raddiyah fighting a zombie and at the bottom of the screen it stated "Shaun starved to death".Then Jose ,and Raddiyah bolted into the house with no hesitation, Amirah put a hole in the wall letting a creeper in. I turn around and Jose was eating all of the food.I did not have any food left when all of a sudden Amirah, and Raddiyah started digging an immense hole while Jose was still stuffing his face.Right when I was about to help with the hole I died of hunger.I think if we kept working on the simulation we there would probably be more tools and predators in during the day .There will be more challenges ,and at the same time more advantages too.But that is up to Mr. Dunn, if he wants to torture us or not.Right?

  9. My team ; Christopher,Garrett,Jay-Nelly and me.First i mine some wood and kill some animal,Then Garrett is starving so we but our coal and food for him to eat,Then me goo mine to get cobblestones for everyone
then Chris and Garrett build our house with wood,Me and Jay is go find more food and more resources to make our house pretty and has more food to survive. After like five minute i don't found anymore food and we decide to go back and we see a lot of mobs chasing us and we fight back then me and Jay is low health so we ran back and shoot them with the bow to knock them back so we can run, lucky we is survive and come back to our house and we see Jayson and we let him go in our house,Then we eat the spider eye and he get poison to death,Th in the middle of the night we is almost starving to death and Garrett and Chris is die and me is dead after them,Then jay is the last on dead on our team.
The game is hard enough to me represent how hard there life in early human is and i think the mobs is represent the monster in early human life.

  10. In day 3 of the minecraft simulation, we got to experience the night and enemies. This definitely affected the way we survived because we had to gather food and build a shelter, all in period of time. Gathering food would be difficult because all the animals were far from where we spawned, so we had walk far to find them, which took time. Also gathering materials to build would take some time. So we had a limited amount of time to gather the things we needed to survive. Most people did not survive, including me and my friend Maya, but we were so close to surviving until the class ended, we were running out of time so Mr.Dunn gave us a potion of hunger to speed up the process, and that's how we died. But before that, Maya and I decided to live in a mountain, and I thought it was a good idea because you just needed tools(which we were already given) and you didn't need a lot of blocks/materials. Also, it was less time consuming to build into the mountains. It turns out, that it worked really well! We had food and we were safe from mobs and enemies. So working with a partner is a good idea, and if we continued into civilizations, minecraft would be a great way to simulate other needs of a community. You could make villages or town and make irrigation systems to symbolize the way early humans lived. Also, you could choose one person to be in charge of the whole community. So living with other people and building a shelter in a mountain could be a great way to survive a night and enemies in minecraft.

  11. On day three of our minecraft simulation we were the Homo Habilis . Mrs Dunn added night this changed the game a lot. We now had to survive the enemies of the night. It was extremely hard Joe,Alex, and I had to find a house. Creepers kept blowing it up, we choose the desert temple. We would run in our house when the enemies were coming. We did not have enough food to make it. So when night came I had to leave to get food. So I left, and the night enemies had chased after me. This is a challenge that I faced when night fall had hit. After they started chasing me they killed me, and I went to minecraft heaven.Later on when we have hole civilizations we will need a ton of food. We will need lots of tools , and minecraft could show us that people faced tons of challenges. In a town you may have to build a farm. So by playing minecraft we may be able get a better understanding about what went on back then.

  12. By adding night and enemies had affected my ability to survive by, making it harder to find a good place to build a shelter without seeing creepers, zombies, or skeletons. Also when night comes your building time is over by, you can't see, or there's a monster there. It makes you feel under pressure because you have limited time to do anything. For shelter I dug a tunnel under ground and put my crafting table and furnace there. It worked out good because I could break a dirt block and check if its morning, and quickly put it back. I also didn't eat so much of my food supplies. We could use minecraft to simulate the other needs of a community by, making walls to prevent other civilizations from coming into to our community, and build tools for protecting our selves and farming. Also to build homes for other people and ourselves for protection, weather, and animals. It must had been hard for the early humans to survive like this.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The third stage of our Minecraft simulation was the second most difficult. We did not have any tools or supplies unlike the last time. Knowing that when night time came their would be monsters all over I had to try and prepare. I already started to think that a community would be more beneficial and easier to survive in, so I worked with Sage, Grace, and Elizabeth. We dug a whole I the side of a mountain for us to live in. We all hunted until night time came. We waited in their for a while but eventually we all got hungry. Sage went out of the house and soon everybody else but me followed them outside. Soon after they went I found out that they all had died. I knew that if I didn't go outside, then I would die of hunger. I had to go outside to try and find any food I could. A zombie ended up killing me while I was getting a cow to eat. I think our idea of making a cave as shelter was good, but we should of had a door to get out in stead of just breaking the walls. Since there were four of us we probably should of made a bigger shelter. In Minecraft we could simulate a shelter by seeing how a team could work together. If one person in the team does not do their part of the work that could lead to death for everybody. My group would have survived longer if we hunted in a organized group in stead of a free for all. Some of the earlier humans learned that quickly and were able to survive longer. Communities are easier to live and survive in then by yourself.

  14. Adding night/enemies made it very difficult to stay alive. A creeper, for example, could blow your house up and could kill you from the surprise explosion that would blow up a couple feet away. Also, if the mobs saw you, they were for sure to come after you. An ender man could move or pick up blocks, so he could be taking a block that is important to you or that was from your house. A skeleton on the other hand, holds a weapon is his hand, which is a bow and arrow. It could be more tricky for people to defeat skeletons, than a zombie. Nida and I used an under ground house. Nida started to build stairs that led down to our house, then she destroyed them. This was a better home to choose because it was underground and safer. Most people chose to build houses out of wood they got from trees. One problem with that is that a creeper could blow it up or an ender man could take the blocks from the house. In our house no one knew were it was and it was blocked off by some cobble stone. There were no creepers or ender men in there to demolish any of our stuff. Since no one knew where our house was, when we died at the end, all of our stuff fell from our inventory and into our house, and no one could pick it up. If we were to proceed into civilization and use minecraft to simulate the other needs of a community it would be much easier than day one and two for many people. We could communicate better, build better shelter, get food better, and our hunting tools would be much more advanced. We could also build a fire and work in bigger groups. This would all help to survive longer and better. That is how day 3 went.

  15. I don't have team is just me, at day first I cut down trees to make tools and I hunt animals to eat I make a small house to hide monster at night. In house I cooking make tools waiting to morning but I star hungry so fact and I eat all I have but I still die but in day 3 is the most long this time I have is way better than day 2 and day 1.

  16. In day 3 of our Minecraft simulation, it was a lot harder than our other days. In this simulation, we advanced to the two other hominid groups. In these stages, we had to build shelter, and find food. But Mr.Dunn added other things too. He added the passing of day, and night monsters. This made it harder because you had to find food to survive, but with the passing of time, it got harder. It was hard because you had to find the food before night or else the night monsters could kill you. The night monsters represent the predators that would hunt the hominid. I think it got harder with the monsters because on top of having to find food, you also had to find/build a house to hide from them. I built my home underground because I was in the middle of hunting, and the monsters started to come out. I didn’t have time to build a house, so I dug a hole and hid in there. Once I closed the hole, I put up torches and expanded the hole. This was my house. Luckily, I had gotten food before the monsters came, so I set up my furnace and cooked some food so I could eat. My underground house was fine, until I got poisoned and came out of my house. The poison took away my food and I starved. If we moved into communities, we might have to stick together in the game. Also, maybe we would all live as a community and defend our village from neighboring communities. Lastly, we could find a way to trade in the simulation. Mr.Dunn will probably think of ways to do more with the Minecraft simulation.

  17. Adding night and predators effected my ability to survive by have more things other than hunger to worry about dying. We were going to use wood for shelter but we didn't build one in time because I died by being surrounded by zombies and they killed me. Then Kairo tried to save me before I died and he got killed as well. So Nasir was the last one to survive in our group. He tried to get one more sheep and a creeper came up behind him and that was it for Nasir. If we proceeded into civilizations we could have simulated it by creating farms and houses for up to ten people. Also we could have had more communication to let other people know what your doing to allow them to do other things instead of doing the same thing.

  18. The mobs didn't affect me because I made a house under ground and,I made a door then I barricaded it. I made a pickax e and dug so I didn't have to waste time getting wood or cobblestone I did't need to make a roof. I was all by myself Jonny Sahl asked if he could join me but I said no. Think about it we would have no food. The early humans didn't make houses underground or made doors but I did.We can use Minecraft to simulate early civilizations by making one part to hunt, one part to expand. Mr. Dunn put on super hunger I survived but then he left so the whole server closed.

  19. Adding night enimeies effected a lot because you need to worry about creatures killing you.like the hominids had to make sure that where ever they lived they had to protect them from predictors in my group we cut down trees and we found a cave and we dug in the cave a little bit and then we closed the door with sand and when we get out we cut down the sand. Minecraft could help because i know its not real but its the closest tool to real life.

  20. Day 3 When Mr.Dunn added eninimies to the minecraft game, it affected my ability to surivie. Because,At night that's when all the animals come out u have a better chance to get food and when u try to kill you're food.A creper could come from anywhere and try to kill you and shoot u with a arrow. Also the spiders they were just comming out out of nowhere ant attcking me.Also you would have to be carfull around you're surroudings when u try to get food.
I worked with Michalea and Elyssa. We tried to survive together Elyssa,Michalea and We used dirt, wood and stone for our house we built. Our house on a high hill so the creepers and spiders won't get to us so easily.
Living as a comuinutie would be great.Because we would beable to find way ore food. Also to fight off the creatures, enimmies.

  21. adding monsters make it the same for me,I just mined some stone out with my hands. Then put down a block at my feet so I can see through if something is coming but keep me inside at all times.By the way it was in the side of a mountain.I seen other people and started to mine toward them.We will need to have weapons, food,A roof over our heads, and friends to help sometimes. Hopefully Mr.Dunn will arrange something so we could do this again!

  22. In day 3 of the project we needed to build shelter, needed to get food, and needed to survive the whole day. He added nighttime which added monsters. It was hard to attack them because they were strong. We eventually all died. When i was shooting one with a bow another one killed me. It was kind of inhevitable dying. I used a temple made by villagers. We blocked off stuff and put doors down. If I didn't try to kill them we would live longer. And if Alex wasn't out getting food then we would live more probably. It would have worked if we would have thought it out more xD. If we did simulate civilizations we could use pistons and redstone to make levees that the Mespotamian, Sumerians made. It would be easier building villages, farming, living together help do certain chores. But it was way more easier than day 1 and 2!

    ReplyDelete
  23. In the third day of the Minecraft simulation we now had the passing of day and enemies at nighttime . It was hard enough the first two days. Now we had to hide from the creepers, spiders, skeletons, and zombies at night. It was really hard because if you didn't have a shelter than you could easily die from blowing up from a creeper or being shot from a skeleton. I couldn't even imagine if I were living life as an early human because there were many more creatures that were out there with them. There were also other groups of people that could easily kill them and steal their shelter. Finding food was an even bigger issue because of you were out at night trying to get food there could be a skeleton right behind you trying to kill you. It was really hard getting food in a game. I don't even know how the early humans were even able to hunt. I mean how can you focus on finding food when something is chasing you trying to hurt you. It was slightly easier since I was working with Phoebe. Phoebe and I decided to build our shelter in a mountain. This idea actually worked very good. It didn't take very long to build it which was very good. Also, we were very safe from the monsters. If we were to find shelter in a cave it wouldn't work out to good because when I went into a cave a skeleton started to shoot me. Spiders can also be found in a cave which can bring your health down if it hits you. I am very glad that we had decided to live in a mountain because we wouldn't have lived as long as we did. If we were to proceed into civilizations we could use Minecraft to stimulate the needs of a community by looking at the challenges found in working together in groups. To start, it would be very hard because you have to make and get more of everything, but it would also be easy because everyone can work on adifferent thing and together you can accomplish it all. So that is what we had experienced on the third day of the Minecraft simulation.

  24. During the third mine-craft assignment we practiced the Neanderthal and homo sapiens sapiens we had the choice to work with partners but I decided to to work alone once we spawned in the game I ran from the cave and started to chop down trees.Like the later hominid group we had fire so we didn't have to eat raw food. That was very helpful because it filled us n a lot faster in the third assignment Mr. Dunn finally added passing day but in the night we had monsters to represent predators so we had to build a house.I had plenty of food but then Mr. Dunn turned on super hunger and every one died.I guess that's how much struggle the hominids had to find food.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well that was a, interesting experiment. I think it would've worked better if I had more experience with minecraft. But it was really fun. In day 3 we had tools and weapons to protect ourselves from the monsters. I was a little worried about the monsters coming out at night, but I did better then I thought I was gonna do. But the monsters made a big impact on all of us staying alive. Because imagine it's dark outside. You'r starving and you can't find any food. Then imagine all of that, but with monsters that can kill you. That's kind of like the hominids because they were hunters, but they were also being hunted by other animals that are bigger then them, so they had to always be on alert and be ready for anything. The main thing that helped us a lot with the project was shelter. In my group we used tree bark. That help us a lot because it was more sturdy and the tree bark that we used was near our shelter. We also use the wall. We used the wall by digging throughout it so we didn't have to spend a lot of time working on the shelter, we could just build it quick and go out and find food. And since we built most of our shelter from the walls we didn't have to use up all of our tree bark, we could use the bark for something that could be more useful. But unfortunately one of my teammates died searching for food. If we would've proceeded into communities I think it would be a lot easier. I think this because, we would be one community and help each other out. For example, If we got tired of doing some kind of work someone could step in and fill our shoes until we were ready to do our job again. Also we all could start traditions, like if a loved one dies we could all bring in flowers to honor that person. So to me I think this lesson was a good experience. I was filled with learning and having fun at the same time. I hope we could do it again soon.

  26. adding night and day with enemies was a lot harder because you had to find shelter and food. I used wood to build a shelter in a cave. You can build more houses and markets for food and water.

  27. In day three of minecraft edu adding night and enemies made it a lot harder to survive because you could be attack at any time anywhere and wasn't easy to time when to run away and I had no shelter but I had lots of wood so made shelter but it was blown up five minutes later by a creeper so I got killed but if we continued to go into civilazation we could use minecraft to build shelter and grow crops just like people had to do in the old times as they didn't have stores.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Having it be night made it difficult because there were monsters and the food supply dissapered a little bit but when Mr.Dunn gave up weapons it was easier for us because we were able to destroy enemies and withe the materials the Mr.Dun gave us we chopped wood and built a house. The shelter that we made was from an orange wood. The shelter was 2 blocks up and 2 blocks left and right Michael knew that zombies could break down doors but he repelled that by putting a block of dirt in front of the door so zombies couldn't break it.We would use mine craft to simulate community by making a village or having everybody play in one server so we could all work together to survive.that is how I think we could use mine craft to simulate a community.

  29. It was hard to survive with enimies because they would chase u around until they got tired or killed you. It was hard to survive with predators but a good is that they would burn to death in the sunlight. I didn't use any shelf but if I did my predators wouldn't be able to get inside. I can't think of anything for number three.

  30. I feel that using MC to recreate the Neolithic experience was pretty good since I do have a good amount of practice with the game it self. All though the mobs on MC are much different than then the real animals from long ago, you really do get the same effect from just trying to survive and not die or starve or get killed by the MC monsters. When we did do this project, I felt like a cave would be the best living quarters because t's already half made for you.

  31. In day 3 of the Minecraft it got harder. It was harder because of might. Night made it Harder because it's
when all the wild animals come out. To protect myself i had to make shelter. It was kinda hard for me since i never played Minecraft before. So anyways to make shelter i used bricks and torches. I uses bricks to make the shelter tall and closed in from the zombies spiders and creepers. I used torches to keep the predators away. It wasn't easy cause we also had to eat. When i played i died from a creeper. Then i went to Minecraft heaven and there was zombies creepers and spiders. I died in heaven seven times. If we still had it like that i think it would be very harsh cause i really couldn't survive our 15-20 minutes or less just playing it.Since there was communications they can use it to help out each other.

  33. Well I worked with Paige and Leighlani. At first we lost each other but we found each other. Paige and me found the food while Leighlani got bricks for our shelter. We remembered that there are Zombies and stuff like that. So instead of making a shelter over ground we made it underground. It worked. We built the shelter 6 blocks underground. We had meat from our hunting, light, and protection from the zombies. We didn’t die not once. I think it’s much better working with a team than by yourself. When we worked together it was much more easier not to die.

    1. Paige and Leighlani (I don't remember how to spell her name) found us our food. Even though we ate Mr.Dunn poisoned us. But before we died we had everything we needed. Shelter, food, and safety. We had everything. The zombies didn't eat us either. If the whole classed worked with us everything would be a mess. In my opinion I think we could have done a little bit better in our survival. But we did the best we could. But we are still safe. I hope we can do something like this again.

  34. Well today we were simulating the Neolithic age once again! This time we were not the only ones hunting... We have "Mobs" that are trying to kill us. Mobs are hostile NPC's in Minecraft, the "Mobs" are supposed to represent wolves, lions and the things trying to hunt you down in the neolithic age.
It didn't make anything easier, even for a "Minecraft know it all" like me, I got in some type of panic at one time in the lesson but overall I like the simulation and hope there will be more lessons soon!

  35. Me,Jamir, and jason were all working together and when we added the night enemies it was harder to survive because if we didn't know that the enemies were behind you you would die. When we built the house out of wood and we put furnices and craft tables. We can represent the civilization by using all the early materials.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ( My team Chris, Garrett, and An) When you added the night and enemies it was harder because we needed to get enough food to survive that night and make shelter. To make my shelter, I used tree wood and some torches to light up the house. Then I placed a furnach and built a crafting table and a chest. If we used Minecraft to simulate the later civilizations, we could add horses or some type of transportation. Also you can give us more specialized tools and weapons.

  37. For shelter i used wood to make walls a door and a roof, i did not have time to make a floor.
When night came around there were a lot of enemies and me deen and christian stayed inside the whole time so we didnt have any problems with any of the enemies. Minecraft is the perfect game to simulate civilizations because you can trade, farm , breed animals, and build and many other things.

  38. In minecraft the night enemies make it more difficult to survive because they have weapons and move fast. It also made it harder because if you are trying to build shelter they come fast so you technically have to start over. In minecraft I did not build shelter because the zombies and creepers came ate me fast so i had no time. If we continued the civilization we would start communities by talking and communicating with each other.

  39. In day 3 with me,paige, and synai. When you added night, creepers, and enemies it was hard to survive because we needed to catch food.We also needed to make a shelter,we needed to collect sand.We used sand to make the shelter we needed to get torches and use it to hold up the sand so it doesn't fall down.It worked and we built a roof with sand.If we simulated newer civillzations we would be more advanced adding cars, horses, cars, and buses also better weapons.
