1.) Describe what it was like in each stage of “hunter/gatherers”.  What were the challenges you faced along the way?
2.) Did each stage get easier?  If so, why?
3.) How do you think technology advances affected the hunters and gatherers that we are trying to simulate?

6th Grade - Social Studies - MinecraftEdu

Classes will use MinecraftEdu to simulate the challenges early humans faced from Australopithecus to Homo-Erectus.

This Week in the Tech Lab - November 30-December 4

Kindergarten - Students will use Kodable to practice mouse skills, directions, and problem solving through programming.

1st Grade - Students will continue to work with Microsoft Word as they practice selecting text and changing fonts.

2nd Grade - Students will continue working with Google Earth as they get the opportunity to explore locations throughout the world.

3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade - Students will learn more about Cyberbullying by using the Digital Passport website.

2nd Grade Google Earth Project

Students will use Google Earth to explore the destinations visited in the book "Route 66".  Students will learn how to move, zoom, and use the many options available in Google Earth.

4th Grade Programming Project - Students will explore different programming languages such as JavaScript, Logo, Scratch, and Python and learn how they create the technology they use every day.

This Week in the Tech Lab - November 9-13

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade - Teacher choice week: students will be working on various programs such as Lexia, Math Reflex, and Code.org.

5th Grade - Students will be using the Hot Wheels Speedometry kit to apply the science concepts they have learned in "Variables" to engineering and testing ramps.

Kindergarten students are continuing in Course 1 of Code.org.
First grade students are finishing their fall acrostic poems in Microsoft Word.
Second and third grade students are working on the Playlab tutorial on Code.org.
Fourth grade students will try SPRK Lesson 5 - Patterns and Colors using Sphero.

6th grade students will use Kerbal Space Program to build and fly a rocket into orbit.  If successful, students will attempt to complete other challenges.

This Week in the Tech Lab - October 19-23

Kindergarten - Students will continue to work on mouse and basic computer skills utilizing various programs and games.



1st and 2nd Grade - Students will create a "FALL" acrostic poem using Microsoft Word.  Students will edit text and insert an image.



3rd Grade - Students will learn how to insert an image into a blog post.  Students will create a new blog post about fall including their chosen image.



5th Grade - Students will use math concepts to program Sphero to complete various challenges.

This Week in the Tech Lab - October 13-17

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade - More with Code

Students will learn the new vocabulary words "algorithm" and "program" and practice using direction commands using Kodable.  Students will then log in to their code.org accounts and continue in Course 1.



4th Grade - Sphero SPRK Lesson 1 - Time, Speed, and Distance

Students will experiment with time and speed for Sphero to see its relationship to distance.  Students will practice measuring, division, and other math concepts.

5th Grade Music Production Project

5th grade students will learn how to create and edit an audio file.  Students will use Audiotool to create a background track, import into Audacity, record their audio track using Audacity, and then export and publish to the web.  Final projects will be posted to student blogs on Blogger.

This Week in the Tech Lab - September 28-October 2

Kindergarten will continue to work on mouse and keyboard skills.  First and second grade classes will create a drawing in Tux Paint, insert into MS Word, type a sentence describing their picture, and print.  These will be used to decorate our new Laptop Lab.  Third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes will learn how to set up and customize their new blog using Blogger.

Kindergarten through 5th grade classes will visit the Laptop Lab and learn the procedures and practice using the laptop tools.  6th grade classes will be introduced to the new Chromebook cart.

All classes will come to the tech lab for their first intro lesson.  Students will practice logging in and go over procedures.  Students will also test out their new Google accounts.
